To Be A Tree To Be A Turtle

July 1, 2015 Radical Radishes
peppertree

We chose higher education. We climbed the trees and imagined what they might say when interviewed or what we might say if we were a tree. Then we went low, down to the depths, and became the turtle. All in all, we became nature at its finest.

I Am The Pepper Tree

by Sydney

I am the pepper tree. I have been here for more than 50 years. Ever since the humans have come my environment expanded from just one little building to lakes, fountains, more trees and more wildlife. I serve by giving the people something to look at, admire. The children have worn down my branches. My branches are getting lower and longer by the year.  They are so limp the people had to put stabilizers to hold them up. My leaves are bright green with green turning pink pepper pouches. I was born from one seed and now I am thriving with life. I now make homes for the squirrels to live in and the raccoons to hide in. I am the Pepper Tree.

I Am The Pepper Tree

by Grace

I am a pepper tree.  My leaves smell like mint. I am skinny and hard. My leaves and flowers wave in the wind. I have friends in the forest and some in the stream and some with scales that gleam like the lizards that climb and tickle me.

My purpose for being here is often they say that kids can climb and play all day.

An Interview With A Pepper Tree

by Ann elise

A: So tell me pepper tree how old are you? Tell me about your branches.

Pepper Tree: I am 89 years old and my branches are my long arms that you climb on.

A: Though you are a tree can you move your arms?

Pepper Tree: Why yes. I move my arms with the help of my friend, the wind.

A: What is your purpose, pepper tree? Why are you here?

Pepper Tree: I give you fresh air.

A: Why do you stand pepper tree? Why are you way up there when you could be down here?

Pepper Tree: I stand high to give you shade and if I lay down on the ground I would block your path.

A: Well, bye pepper tree standing tall. I will see you tomorrow, hoping you will not fall.

To Be a Turtle

By Odinn

I would like to be a turtle because we don’t have school and I can be in the water all day. But! I would miss out on writing camp.
