A children’s writing camp designed to engage in play that stimulates the senses, sparks creativity and encourages new paths to writing imaginative personal essays and stories. 

While in camp creative campers

• Develop the creative tools needed tocompose great writing

• Learn without “learning” the California Language Arts/Writing standards

• Explore nearby parks, gardens, the library, and other places for inspiration

• Memorialize their prose on our poetry mural wall (as pictured)

Campers play and write with small groups of 5-6 children generally of the same age.  The daily schedule will be varied to allow for inspiration for content, writing practice, and play, concluding with an afternoon swim and splash at the local swimming hole (Glassell Park Pool).  Parents will be able to pick up their child anytime from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.  Each week-long camp culminates in a public reading giving campers a chance to share their stories with family and friends.
